Committee Person Description and Duties
Committee persons or CPs are the official party representatives within each voting precinct. Our zone has 9 precincts across the three townships of Westtown, Thornbury and Birmingham. With 2 CPs per precinct, Zone 6 is eligible to have 18 CPs. Currently, WTB Dems have vacancies for CPs in the following precincts: Thornbury 2, Westtown 1, Westtown 2, Westtown 3, and Westtown 5.

- Participate in the annual county-wide party meetings to endorse candidates and elect officers.
- Attend monthly meetings of their zones where they help to plan and then implement political activities.
- Volunteer themselves and recruit others as poll watchers and greeters for their voting places on primary and general election days
- Work with other CPs and volunteers to collect signatures for nominating petitions, canvass their precincts to advocate for Democratic issues and candidates, and participate in other efforts to get out the vote.
Committee persons (CPs) are chosen in the Democratic primary election in the spring of the year of Pennsylvania’s governor election. Candidates for CP must be a registered Democrat living in the precinct they want to represent. They qualify to appear on the ballot by submitting nominating petitions signed by at least ten registered Democratic voters who live in their precinct. The period for circulating nominating petitions for 2026 is between February 18 and March 10. Completed petitions and candidate affadavits must be submitted to Chesco Voter Services by March 10.
